Foley Art
Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects added to film, video, and other media in post-production.
Named after Jack Foley, who developed the technique at Universal Pictures in the 1940s.
A foley artist performs sounds in sync with picture — footsteps, clothing, props, impacts — using whatever objects produce the right sound, not necessarily the original ones.
