DownloadAbleton LiveOptional, with a 30-day free trial. It is widely used for live electronic performance, sound design, and music production. It is organised around two views: a non-linear Session View for triggering clips and a traditional linear Arrangement View.
In This Course
Ableton Live is optional. The mapping and OSC reception stay in Max or Plugdata. Live can sit alongside as a sound-design environment — driven by MIDI (or OSC via Max for Live) from your patch.
Use it if you want:
- Quick access to a large library of instruments, samples, and effects
- A familiar DAW workflow for shaping timbre, dynamics, and processing
- Clear separation between mapping logic (Max/Plugdata) and sound (Live)
